Anupam Kher (Kashmiri: ٳڲۆݭھی اىڈڛۋ, Hindi: अनुपम खेर) (born 7 March 1955)[2] is an Indian actor who has appeared in nearly 470 films and 100 plays.[3] Though mainly appearing in Bollywood (Hindi) films, he has had roles in some films from other nations as well most notably the 2013 Oscar winning Silver Linings Playbook, directed by David O. Russell. He has held the post of Chairman of the Censor Board and National School of Drama in India.[3] In 2004, he was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution to Indian cinema.[4] Kher has won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role five times, more than any other actor.
